Birds of Prey

In October, our students celebrated their annual Fall Festival by welcoming Wild Ontario.

Wild Ontario is based out of the University of Guelph an environmental education program, delivering live-animal shows and displays across Ontario.

Our students were so fortunate to learn more about birds-of-prey and to gain more knowledge about long-term home and purpose for birds which can no longer survive in the wild.

Thank you to lovely volunteers of Wild Ontario for fostering a love and appreciation for Ontario’s incredible wildlife. We learned an incredible amount about biology, ecology, orinthology, conservation and stewardship. This made for an unforgettable experience.

Fall Open House Curriculum Night

Virtual Fall Open House and Curriculum Night

Thursday, November 18th at 7:30 p.m.

Join us at our  Virtual Open House Curriculum Information Night, we are excited to take you on a virtual tour of our school and highlight our curriculum programs from Toddler to Junior High.

Education is perhaps the most critical component of a child’s development, with a legacy that permeates throughout his/her lifetime. As parents, we want to give our children the best start, and most importantly our children need to feel fulfilled, happy, inspired and nurtured.

One of the greatest benefits of Montessori education is building real-life skills that carry over when it is time to enter the workforce. Problem-solving, creativity, team work and responsibility run through the veins of a Montessori child.

At Dearcroft Montessori School our experienced staff take great pride in offering a warm and engaging environment for students providing programs for toddlers to grade 8.

A Montessori education consciously designs social communities and educational experiences that cultivate the child’s sense of self-awareness and empathy. Montessori learning environments allow for the respect and celebration of individual spirit within people of all ages.

At Dearcroft/West Wind Montessori  School the comprehensive and methodical training of staff, excellent student to teacher ratios and long- term relationships allow us to focus on the individual child’s development keeping in-line with Montessori best practices. All of our classrooms feature: individualized, child-centred programs, enriched programming tailored to meet the needs of each student; multi-age environments; low student-teacher ratios; hands-on experiential learning; individual and small group lessons and enriched music and French programming.

We are doing our best to keep cold and flu season at bay this year.  If your child displays ANY signs of illness, from a runny nose to a fever, or is generally unwell, please keep them home from school.  Notify the school of your child’s absence and follow directions from your healthcare provider or public health.

As per the guidelines set out by the Halton Region Public Health, children should be 24 hours since their symptoms started improving before returning to school for most minor illnesses (runny nose, sore throat).  This is required to prevent the spreading of viruses.

Please be reminded that a screening form must be submitted for every student before coming to school.
While we have enjoyed a very warm start to the month, please keep in mind that our natural environment, and proximity to the lake, that our recess yard can become cold.  Please send your child to school with appropriate outdoor gear, including mittens or gloves, a hat, warm coat, and boots.  Please label all belongings.
Thank you,
Dearcroft and West Wind Staff
