Return To School – All Levels Toddler to Junior High- January 5th

Further to the Ontario Chief Medical Officer’s announcement yesterday, we are planning on a return to school date of Wednesday, January 5, 2022 for all levels from Toddler through Junior High.

Dearcroft will continue to maintain our strict COVID-19 policies as we’ve already had in place, including, but not limited to placement of air filters in every classroom, keeping windows open as much as possible, and keeping our materials, classrooms and common areas clean on a daily, ongoing basis.
A new measure Dearcroft will be implementing, with the assistance of the Ministry of Education and the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, will be the use of non-fit-tested N95 masks for all staff at Dearcroft.  Non-fit-tested N95 masks meet the same NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) standards as fit-tested N95s but have not been, and are not required to be, fit-tested.  The Ministry of Education will require all licensed child care staff to have the option to wear either medical/surgical masks or the non-fit-tested N95 masks provided by government.  As soon as these masks are made available to Dearcroft, we will commence this new measure.
For those families who did not collect rapid tests before the holidays, we will have 1 rapid test available per child (1 test only, not a kit of 5 tests) to collect on Tuesday, January 4th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Once we have received further information on protocols from Public Health and the Ministry of Education, we will provide an update on Tuesday, January 4th.
Together, our teamwork will help us see a safe start to the second term.  We are especially appreciative of your on-going caution of keeping your children home if there is any uncertainty or symptoms that could spread to others.
The Dearcroft staff sends their gratitude for your efforts at keeping classrooms safe for all.
Thank you kindly and please stay safe, as we head into the new year.  Happy New Year to you and your family!

Elementary and Junior High Learn Remotely January 5th -8th 2021

Dear Parents,

We hope you are having a wonderful winter break and are enjoying some time outdoors.  As we prepare for the start of 2021, and our second term, we wanted to reach out with some reminders.

As you know, there are currently a range of time-limited public health actions to help curb the spread of COVID-19, which also includes at home learning from January 5-8, 2021.  At this time, our Elementary and Junior High teachers have prepared to transition to online learning for this coming week.

Second Term begins In-person learning for Toddler and Casa students

Dear Toddler and Casa parents,

We hope you have had a wonderful winter break and are enjoyed some outdoor time.  As we are  prepared to welcome back our Toddler and Casa students on campus for the start of 2021, and our second term.
Our first day of school is Tuesday, January 5th.  While there are currently a range of time-limited public health actions to help curb the spread of COVID-19, child care centres will remain open during this time.  Therefore, during the period of January 5-8, 2021, while our elementary levels are operating virtually, our Toddler and Casa programs will return to in-person learning.  However, please note before and after school programs will be closed.

Dearcroft Community COVID-19 Update

Dear Parents,

As we begin this virtual journey together, for the time being while our physical campus has been mandated to close, our team of highly professional, experienced and passionate educators, who are entirely dedicated to your child’s needs regardless of the circumstances we face, remain available and accountable to you during school hours.  Countless hours of preparation and curriculum development have gone into this collective effort to continue being supportive as we move forward together with our work.

Once this mandated closure is over, we will be in a position to return to campus and carry on providing top quality care and programming for your children in the manner we would all prefer.  In the meantime, given our financial obligations as a business, we are not in a position to provide refunds at any level of the school, in order to be able to maintain the campus and staffing required upon our return.  As we work through this fluid period, with monthly April tuition payments due, if you are in a difficult situation financially at the moment, please reach out to us directly by email.  As we engage multi-faceted approaches to maintain all aspects of school operations, we are working closely to support our incredible staff who have continued to work tirelessly through this entire time.

As we launch our on-line platform that we have developed in response to the mandated closure, we are confident you will find much, if not all, of the content to be useful tools and resources for you, as well as your child.  In addition, it will give your family the ability to stay connected with your child’s teachers and the Dearcroft community at large.  We will be sending login details to all families on Sunday and the site will launch on Monday.  We do ask that you take some time to get familiar with the site going forward and take full advantage of the content and connectivity as features are continually added.  Your feedback on the resources provided will be most welcome!

Please know that we are here for you…our building may be temporarily unavailable, but we remain here to support you as we navigate the conditions of these extraordinary times.
