Spring has Sprung and our Toddlers are dressed and prepared for the fun outdoors!

Spring has Sprung! Our Toddlers are jumping into the  season with such joy!

Spring is here and our Toddlers can’t wait to jump in the mud puddles and run around outside!

“We’re glad mom and dad dressed us for outdoor play – boots, splash pants and mittens will keep us warm and dry!”

We’re wearing Muddy Buddies – super cute and practical, but not required! 🙂

A Dearcroft Tradition skating this Winter Term

Winter Term Skating Program at Canlan Ice Sports

Our skating sessions for this year’s Winter Term Phys-Ed program for the Elementary and Junior High students is off to a great start! We are so pleased to carry on another Dearcroft tradition.

For the Senior and Junior High sessions, we will have two pads of ice at our disposal.
We use one for shinny hockey and the other for skating and developmental

In order to carry out this program tradition, we are so appreciative for all of the support
from  parent volunteers.

After School Program with Yoga Rocks at Dearcroft Montessori School

Yoga Rocks Kids@ Dearcroft

This program offers a playful approach to yoga for children ages 4 – 9 years old. We combine fitness, fun yoga poses, group games and which allow children to explore this form of exercise naturally. In this class children will develop body awareness, strength and flexibility. They will practice poses that improve balance, coordination and gross motor skills. The children will also be introduced to BRAIN GYM, which are physical exercises that help integrate the left and right brain function, encouraging whole brain thinking. Students work together in small cooperative games which encourages team work! As each child begins to master the yoga poses he/she will build self-esteem and confidence as well as increase focus and attention.

Antoinette Finelli & Marcia LeBlance will both be teaching the Yoga Program this school year. Both are Certified Yoga Instructors for adults and kids. Marcia loves teaching yoga to kids of all ages in English and in French! As Children’s Yoga instructors they have observed the benefits gained by students and they love to share this great activity with children of all ages.

The goal is to engage children of all abilities to become active, self- confident and healthy through this non-competitive activity.

A Positive Introduction to Sports!

Little Kickers  Oakville soccer class comes to Dearcroft!

The Toddler and Prima Casa Classes have  looked forward to  gym time these last couple of weeks! They seemed to really enjoy their time with coach Larry  who owns the franchise for  Oakville and Southwest Mississauga. Coach  Larry tailored each class to the  specific age groups and was able to engage the children in such a fun, imaginative way.

They warmed up by doing some stretches before they played games with the soccer balls and nets.

During their 30 minute sessions in gym the  children  were introduced to the basics of soccer (dribbling, striking, goal scoring etc.) in a play-oriented yet structured format, using child-friendly but realistic soccer equipment.

Each child was given the opportunity to work within their ability level but taught in a group environment.

At little Kickers:

We give your children a positive introduction to sport by teaching high quality soccer skills in a friendly, pressure-free environment.

There are four different classes tailored specifically to the needs of children between 18 months and seven years of age.
