Former Student, Rachel Worton, comes back to Dearcroft Montessori as a Teacher’s Assistant.
“Coming back to Dearcroft has been a very nostalgic experience. I was once a former student at Dearcroft and now I am a Teacher’s Assistant in the casa classroom. I can still remember my first day at Dearcroft, I was one of the only children who didn’t cry after my parents dropped me off. I went around handing out tissues trying to make other children feel better.
On my first day as a Teaching Assistant I found myself happy to do the same thing; comforting children who were sad to leave their parents for the first time.
I don’t remember many things about the program because I was so young, however my mom told me I would work with the pink tower, and that I really enjoyed matching cards, and I was excited to wash tables everyday! It’s a good feeling watching the children do things that I experienced in the classroom as a child. And it’s a great feeling being able to see the children succeed and be full of happiness just as I was as a child.
I can honestly say that I come to work everyday happy to be at Dearcroft, just as I did as a child attending the Casa program. Working with children has its challenges but this experience thus far, has motivated me even more to pursue my career as a teacher! “

Veteran Gets Letters from Dearcroft Montessori Students
Thank you Mr. Henderson, WWII veteran and Lancaster pilot, for helping us gain an appreciation of the atrocities of war. Your story awed our class, and has inspired us to become peace makers. We are honoured you took the time to respond to our questions, and will continue to share your story.
Sincerely,
The Senior Elementary Class
